This scholarship season we offered the Next Step Scholarship, curated by our very own Trevor Jenkins. The scholarship aimed to give academic support to a high-performing student from Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The application focused on the key pillars of resiliency and community support.
Britney Watson, a senior with a 4.3 GPA and the intention to go to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was the ideal candidate. In her application she described what the phrase “Next Step” meant to her. It means being better than you were yesterday. This improvement builds on the foundation set by those who came before you. She was the president of the National Honors Society. She also created an Anti-Bullying campaign. The campaign encourages students to report and end bullying. We are extremely impressed with Britney and look forward to seeing more of her successes at UNC Chapel Hill.
